Incidents and Notable Events


At 0355 hrs Station 15 along with E7-4 and L-18 were dispatched for a reported dwelling fire on the 1000 Blk of Silver Oak Pl. Upon arrival BC15 reported that there was a small fire in a bathroom exhaust fan. The fire was extinguished by the homeowner prior to FD arrival. CH15 held the incident to the 15 units and FM39 was on scene investigating.


Horsham Fire Company participated in the 2nd Annual Pre-National Night Out held by the Horsham Police Department. Units were on display from 1700-2100 at the Township Complex during the event. This years event saw a dramatic increase in attendance, thanks to everyone that came out!


Station's 15 & 88 (Fort Washington Fire Co. #1) were dispatched around 2330 hrs for a reported accident with injuries. CH88 arrived on scene with 3 motorcycles and 2 vehicles involved. The 3 motorcyclists were down in the roadway and there was an active fire from the rear of one of the vehicles. All victims were treated and/or transported to Hospitals for their injuries. There was 1 fatality as a result of the incident.

Both Fire companies remained on scene till around 0600 hrs 07/31/13 to assist the Police investigation with lighting.


At 1417 hrs Station 15, Bucks E92 (Warminster) and L95 (Hatboro) were dispatched for a reported dwelling fire on Stefwalt Rd. Upon arrival, E15 reported a fire in the Electrical meter attached to the side of the house. Units remained on scene for approximately 1 hr awaiting PECO to secure the electricity.


Thanks to all our members who spent time with us yesterday for Horsham Day. It was a long day for sure.

It was great to see all the folks stopping by the firehouse yesterday - great turnout. I know we had some shade for the day, but nonetheless thanks for visiting and we look forward to next year!

Lastly, nice job by Horsham Township - well planned and executed. The fireworks were by far the best ever for Horsham Day!








Last evening we had the opportunity to celebrate at the Horsham Fire Company Annual Banquet. It was an excellent time and great work by the Banquet Committee. The evening went well and the following people received awards:

Bill Williams Officer of 2012 - Brian Fitzgerald

We also recognized retired Horsham Police Captian Joe Repkoe.

Recognized for 30 years of service was Valli McCaffrey, 35 years of service was Bruce McCaffrey and Frank Heger. Horsham welcomes our 2 newest life members, Chris Keyser and Lee Greenberg.




At approximately 2238 hrs, Sta. 15 was dispatched to Broadway Ave in Upper Moreland Twp to assist Station 10 (Willow Grove Fire Co.) for a reported dwelling fire. There were numerous different reports being given to the responding units, reports of multiple people on fire in front of the residence, working house fire and possible explosion. DC15 arrived on scene and reported 3 burn victims in the front yard with some type of explosion, no fire in the dwelling. EMS crews from Second Alarmers Rescue Squad quickly began administering care to the patients upon their arrival. It was determined that one of the patients needed to be flown to a burn center in Philadelphia, an LZ (Landing Zone) was established at the Village Mall and PennSTAR 6 was able to take the patient to the Burn Center.



At 2025 hrs, Horsham PD as well as Horsham Ambulance (352) were dispatched for a reported vehicle accident with injuries at Horsham Rd/Precision Rd. One car was reported to be overturned with 4 occupants attempting to crawl out. Squad 15 was manned with a Duty Crew in station and took in the call. BC15 arrived on location and advised there was one car overturned on the front lawn of the Hotel on the corner. All occupants were out of the vehicle, hazards were secured and company was back in service at 2121 hrs.



Horsham Fire Co. #1 hosted the first "Leadership" training of the year at Battalion I. Assistant Chief Chris Drach of the Cheltenham Fire Company conducted a lecture on "The Front Seat". This training session was designed for those personnel that ride in the officer's seat, providing those in attendance with reminders, ideas and general food for thought in regards to the many possible scenarios we may encounter. This class was opened to our membership as well as many of our surrounding mutual aid companies. In attendance were officers and members of the Horsham Fire Co., Willow Grove Fire Co., Hatboro Fire Co., Huntingdon Valley Fire Co. & Rockledge Fire Co.

Engine 15-1 & Rescue 15 assisted Station 18 (FDMT) at a working dwelling fire. DC18 arrived on scene reported smoke showing from the attached 2 car garage. Horsham crews assisted with forcing entry through the garage doors and with overhaul. While out on this job, Squad 15 handled a trash fire in the area of McKean Rd.



On Friday evening Rescue 15 was dispatched to assist Station 10 (Willow Grove Fire Co.) for a reported Vehicle Rescue along Blair Mill Rd. CH15 arrived on scene advising no rescue needed but for units to proceed in for hazard control.



While preparing for Wednesday night drill, Stations 15, Ladder 95 (Hatboro) & Engine 92 (Warminster) were dispatched for a reported garage fire. Engine 15 and DC15 arrived on scene with a 2 car detached garage well involved. Engine 15 went in service with hand lines, Ladder 95's crew took the garage doors down and Squad 15 dropped in from the Hydrant at Moreland Rd/Summer Ave. Tower 500 (Roslyn) also responded as the RIT Team.

At approximately 0800 hrs Station 15 and Squad 7 (Wissahickon Fire Co.) were dispatched for a reported Vehicle Rescue at the intersection of Lower State Rd/Horsham Rd. Ambulance 352 on scene reporting door and "B" post to go. Squad 18 (FDMT) contacted Rescue 15 and advised they were in the area and available if needed. Rescue 15 had them respond in to assist.



Wrapping up a busy Sunday....Station 15 was dispatched to a Fire Alarm (Water Flow) at a Postal Facility on Progress Dr. Upon arrival CH15 observed a broken pipe with water flowing on the exterior of the bldg on the "C" side. Upon arrival of the emergency contact, crews entered the bldg, ensured there was no problems and shut down the affected sprinkler zone.



Stations 15, 95 (Hatboro), 500 (Roslyn) and Bucks Sta. 90 (Warminster) were dispatched to a reported garage fire at 1121 hrs in the 100 blk of Holly Dr. CH15 arrived on scene with a fully involved detached 2 car garage in the rear of the dwelling. Squad 15's crew deployed a 2 1/2" hand line and Ladder 95's crew was assigned to force entry through the garage doors. Thanks to Stations 18 (Fire Department of Montgomery Township), Station 10 (Willow Grove Fire Co.) & Bucks Station 90 (Warminster) for covering Horsham Township during this incident. All units available at 1303 hrs.

At approximately 0957 hrs Stations 15, 18 & 7 were dispatched to the 309 Cinema for a report of a water flow alarm and a gas leak in the building. AC18 arrived on scene and had station 18 crews go interior to investigate. It was determined that there was no gas leak and that a sprinkler head had burst in a stairwell near theater number 3. There was minor water damage in the hallway as well as theater 3. Station 15 & 18 crews performed water removal and FM39 was requested to the scene.



At approximately 1830 hrs Sta. 15 was dispatched to a report of open burning in the 100 blk of Park Rd. BC15 arrived and located a large debris pile. SD15, E15 & E15-1 responded and began extinguishment. A back hoe was used by the property owner to separate the pile. Due to the location of the pile being well off the roadway and away from any hydrants, Tanker 66 (Warwick Fire Co.) was called in to assist. Crews were on scene for approximately 3 hours. Thanks To Warwick for coming out to assist!



E15-1 and CH15 responded to a report of a 3 car accident with injuries. One of the vehicles was reported to be smoking. All hazards were secured and the Company was made available.



Ladder and DC15 assisted Station 4 (Cheltenham Fire Co.) at fatal strip mall fire.
